Second Austrian Climate Camp from May, 24 – 28!

Why at the airport?

The decision of the Bundesverwaltungsgericht (BVwG) to stop the third runway at the Vienna Airport has created a worldwide precedent in the area of environmental protection. The decision puts the well-being of all life ahead of economic special interests – which is seen as a scandal for some.  We see this decision as a step into a better future! We will continue to back this decision and strongly support sustainable mobility – for that reason, the 2017 Climate Camp will take place under the motto: Aviation expansion is a red line – and red lines are not to be crossed!

When and where will the camp take place?

May  24. – 28., in Enzersdorf an der Fischa – on the space opposite Mühlstraße 3.
How to get there: by train, by bus or via our Rideshare Platform.

We’ll start setting up the camp on Mai 21. – Every helping hand is welcome.

How do I get there?

The camp is in “Enzersdorf an der Fischa”, very close to the airport. We have a beautiful lawn there, with a river. It’s located opposite to the address Mühlstraße 3.

We have created a Rideshare Platform Spreadsheet.

If you arrive without a bike

The camp can be easily reached with public transport from Vienna. Use the online route planner from Austrian railways – it can give you the directions directly to the camp, with only a little bit of walking.

Enter it like this:

IMPORTANT: Use the “S” (S-Bahn) and avoid the “CAT” (City Airport Train). The CAT requires special tickets, which are very expensive.

If you don’t find good bus connections, no problem! Simply take the S-Bahn to “Fischamend Bahnhof”, and call us at our camp phone: 0043 681 10426067 — We can pick you up.

If you arrive by bike

If you have your bike with you, then it’s even easier! You can take your bike in the S-Bahn (local train). You just need a special, inexpensive bicycle ticket, which is available at every ticket station. From Fischamend station, you can cycle to the camp in 20 minutes. We will mark the way with chalk on the ground. You can also refer to the map above.

Program

The program of this year’s Climate Camp will include workshops on various topics, interesting presentations, audience discussions, and of course the important aspect of action planning and development. The camp needs your support – all of us can contribute and actively help to shape the second Austrian Climate Camp.

Let’s turn the camp into a colorful, open and interesting place to meet, which puts a focus on climate justice!

Food

At the camp, the solidarity hands-on-kitchen, minimal.is.muss, will treat us with regional, seasonal and delicious vegan food. (minimal.is.muss has already provided us with great food previously at the last Climate Camp) We have also planned for music and other entertainment. Please also bring your own musical instruments, juggling-utensils, and other fun material s! Also, bring lots of fun red things (t-shirts, scarfs, pants, etc…)!

What would it cost?

A climate camp also creates some expenses. We organize and plan everything on a voluntary basis; however, to make the camp possible we ask the camp participants for a small donation for food and materials. The suggested donation will be communicated at the camp.
